Exhibition "Kolkata to Dhaka, 1971: Marc Riboud’s Lens on History"

From March 15th to 19th 2025, le Kolkata Centre for Creativity hosts a unique exhibition dedicated to photographs taken during the Independence of Bangladesh in 1971.

In November 1971, Marc Riboud uses his camera to record refugee camps, demonstrations for thee independence, and followed the Indian army until the key battle of Jamapur. He is among the first ones to enter liberated Dhaka, capturing the joy that will mark History.

Shown in partnership with the Alliance française du Bengale and the Liberation War Museum in Dhaka, this exhibition has been first created for the fiftieth anniversary of the Independence of Bangladesh, and now returns to Kolkata for a new unveiling.
